These tiny, bite sized, sweet and juicy little vegetables are super easy to grow. Whether you call them vegetable or fruit, who cares?.........they are delicious.

The original tomato species growing in the wild are closely related to cherry tomatoes. That must be what makes them so vigorous and hardy. They are able to withstand stress better than many of the larger varieties. They just seem to ignore drought and high and low temperature changes. And cherry tomatoes seem to be significantly more disease resistant.

The cherry tomato has an outstanding flavor. They are as sweet as candy. The sweetness and outstanding flavor is reason enough to grow them but their easygoing nature and abundant yields make growing them irresistible.

Cherry Tomatoes are very forgiving, they grow very quickly and all varieties are equally delicious. But, obviously, you get what you plant in most cases. They come in all shapes and colors. Red and yellow pear-shaped, golf ball sized Crimson, Black Cherry, and the pea and grape size. The grape and pea size fall into the petite category. They are very small and super sweet.

How to Grow Cherry Tomatoes

Easy tips for growing are very basic.

1. These little beauties need full sun and a lot of it. A minimum of 4 hours of full sun and they will do well. They need good soil that is well drained. And they need good air circulation. An open area is best so that the wind can blow their growing stems and make them strong.

2. Of course, their stems and branches need to be provided some type of support.

3. And water. Yes, they will need to be watered several times a week. Somewhere in their past they learned how to blossom and set fruit during drought times so don't over water.

4. You will need to feed them and the recommendation is to start when you plant them. Use a good granular timed release plant food.
